SOPA Bovaer Statement

The SOPA Board met in December 2024 to discuss the feed additive product Bovaer and unanimously agreed that the additive is not approved on farms certified to SOPA’s Scottish Organic Standards.

This means that organic milk produced in Scotland to the SOPA Organic Standards cannot contain the Bovaer additive, nor are genetically modified organisms, chemically synthesised fertilisers or pesticides permitted on Scottish organic farms certified to the SOPA Organic Standards.
