Fraudulent Certificates

We have been notified of a fake Organic Certificate of Compliance in circulation that has not been produced by OF&G.  Further to checks carried out by OF&G on the authenticity of a certificate issued to ‘Herbal Elegance Ltd’ it was abundantly clear that the document was not legitimately issued to the company and had been altered in several ways.

Plus, Defra has been notified by the EU’s OFIS system of a fake certificate that was sent to the Hungarian control body (Biokontroll Hungária Nonprofit Kft. - HU-ÖKO-01) for verification. During the cross-checking process it was determined that the certificate was false.

If you receive or have received a certificate and/or goods from either of the above or you receive an organic certificate for goods purchased that you don’t think looks quite right please contact your Certification Officer immediately.
